      WELCOME TO NATURE'S TOUCH BENGALS

Thank you for visiting our  website.  Nature's Touch Bengals is a small in-home cattery located in Somerset County in Western Pennsylvania with an endless passion for the beautiful and unique Bengal Breed.  I was first introduced to the  Bengal breed by my two daughters who both have brown spotted beauties. I have to admit, not only was I stunned with their characteristics, intelligence and personality, it actually was  "Love at First Sight" and I've been hooked on Bengals ever since.  After searching, researching and visiting cattery after cattery in many states, we slowly have added show quality bengals to our program with excellent pedigrees.  Our bengals are from well known  Show breeders/catteries from across the United States.  We take great pride in adding each and every one of our outstanding bengals to Nature's Touch Bengals program.   We also hope to begin showing our bengal beauties in the near future.

Nature's Touch Bengals Cattery is not outside nor is it in our garage.  The cattery is inside our home  and our bengals have all the comforts that everyone shares as being a  part of our family. Our males are also inside and are spoiled as spoiled can be.  We are a  TICA registered cattery, concentrating on healthy, quality kittens for responsible families for pets, show and breeding prospects.  We are  NOT interested in quanity. We breed to preserve and improve the standard of the bengal breed.    We are concentrating on breeding our best Queens that should result in beautiful spotted and rosetting patterns, snows, cool to golden brown and silver bengals while still maintaining the beauty and standards of the Asian Leopard.   We hope to have that "WILD" look the Asian Leopards are noted for as well as the "WOW" factor when our families visit and see our kittens, Queens, Studs and the cattery itself.

We hope that you enjoy viewing Nature's Touch Bengals website.  We would love to have you return to view our future information, kittens or just to sit down relax and have fun watching our cattery and website  grow.  Any questions or comments are welcome at any time from fellow breeders, perspective owners or current owners with some good stories.  We'd love to hear from you regarding our favorite subject ... BENGALS!!

What is a Bengal ...Is a Bengal right for me?

So you think you might be interested in the Bengal breed; if you are reading this information, good for you,  it shows you are being a responsible perspective pet owner by investigating each breed to make sure that the cat as a "whole package" is a fit for your family and lifestyle and not just the outward beauty of the breed.

HISTORY OF THE BENGAL

In 1963 Jean S. Mill crossed the domestic cat with the wild Asian Leopard .....  This was the first effort to use hybrid offsprings to create a breed of domestic cats with the loving nature of a tabby but still have the striking look associated with the Asian Leopards, Ocelots and Jaguars.  The breed "Bengal" is in reference to the scientific  name of the leopard cat, "Prionaiourus Bengalensis".  The hybrids crossed are registered as foundation cat (F1, F2, F3, F4) These generations of bengals known as the foundation are not eligible to show.  The females from the foundation
stock  are used for breeding while the males from the foundations are almost aways sterile. The Bengal Breed is now accepted in TICA since 1986 and with the popularity of breeders and exhibitors, it gained championship status in 1991.  Bengals are now one of the most frequently exhibited breeds in TICA Shows.    This was  due  to the dedicated breeders around the world, having successfully fulfilled the goal of creating a docile, civilized house cat that has the looks/standards of the Asian Leopard that had arroused human curiosity for centuries.

PERSONALITY OF THE BENGAL

This is by far the best part of the Bengal breed other than their outstanding beauty and presence.  Their personalities  allow them to be trained very easily and almost dog like when you call them.  They will follow you all through the house like a shadow.  They can't help let their curiosity gets the best of them andof course they don't want to take the change that they might miss something.  Actually my male actually wears a  harness and loves to ride in the car.  He will go anywhere I agree to take him for any length of time. When we finally arrive, He is anxiously awaiting  all the attention he knows he will receives from those who approach him.

Bengals sitting or staying  on the floor usually doesn't work for them for long, they  love to be very high in the air, so be ready to buy or build that tall cat tree or whatever works for your room.   They can go from watching you from the top of the tree to being in your lap ready to cuddle in two seconds flat.  They are very active and love to play with each other, chase toys, run through tunnels and absolutely love children.  Let's also not forget that they love to play in water and drink with their paws.   They are smart enough to learn their name very easily and actually my cat meets me at the door when I come home and starts talking to me.   I'm still amazed to this day they sounds that they make.
Bengals love to be part of the family and love to be included in your daily activities.  You'll never be alone again.  I actually get lost in time just sitting watching them and playing with them.  They never cease to amaze me on a daily basis.

                                                             TRAITS OF THE BENGAL

Where does one begin to list the traits of this beautiful bengal breed.. Obviously the coat patterns as well as the body structure are both eye catching.  Its gives you that "WOW" factor.  You have the dosile domestic in a modified Asian Leopard Body.  The coat patterns are so attractive with their soft spotted or marble patterns.  The spotted patterns obviously are the most popular visually associating the bengal instantly with the Asian Leopard look.  They can be displayed in an array of colors as well as spots and lets not forget the glitter.  From solid color spots to the two toned spotting called Rosette.  The spots can be large or small or no spots at all, which would introduce the marble Bengal. The marbles have a swirling pattern flowing across the coat.  Shades can be anywhere from
Snow (Adding Siamese and Burmese into the Ancestry)to silver, cool golden brown to darker brown.  The weight of a Bengal  can range from 6-15 lbs.   They are considered to be medium to large cats, with the males weighing in larger than the queens.  A healthy bengal is well muscled, with beautiful soft coat texture, confident and very athletic as well as a social butterfly.

If you think that the Bengal breed might be right for you, I would strongly suggest that you continue to research the breed and find out as much information as you can, also contacting working catteries is always an eye opening experience and you will be able to have all your questions answered by a professional breeder.  Remember adding a pet to your family is a lifetime committment,  What ever you choose, make sure that your breeder as well as your Bengal you choose make that "PERFECT FIT" for your individual family situation.
